L.A Care Newsletters
L.A. Care 2023 Be Well Newsletter Covers
Background

Be Well, Live Well, and Stay Well are newsletters that are designed quarterly to reach various members of L.A. Care Health Plans. L.A. Care partners with Lista Design Studio to keep these newsletters appealing and intriguing.

Be Well is designed for L.A. Care Medi-Cal members. Live Well’s target audience is L.A. Care’s Senior Members (55+) and Special Needs Members. Stay Well is intended for L.A. Care Covered Members. Each newsletter encourages a healthy, active, and informed lifestyle while providing updates on new benefits, services, and vaccines.

Background

At Lista Design Studio, we would receive unformatted text in a Word document and a list of images to layout into a newsletter provided by L.A. Care. As part of the Lista Design team, I was able to project manage and layout Be Well, Live Well, and Stay Well from 2020 through 2023. As a team, Lista maintained L.A. Care’s tone, branding, and color schemes, while working with L.A. Care to keep the newsletters appealing and up-to-date.

Over the course of my employment at Lista Design Studio, the newsletters were a consistent, quarterly project. As we finished one newsletter, we were already on to the next one. Learning the layout of several L.A. Care newsletters simultaneously was challenging. Another one of the challenges was finding the color schemes for Be Well and Live Well. We had to find color schemes that matched each quarterly season, weren’t previously used before, and used colors that were 508 compliant.

Stay Well was the easiest of the newsletters to put together, a lot of the stories were repeated. It was also the easiest newsletter because it came with a pre-approved color scheme.

Working on these newsletters taught me a lot about teamwork, helped me understand layouts and spacing, and introduced me to finding strict color schemes.
